Concrete Day and announcement of the Concrete Structure of the Year 2017 takes place on 14 March

Concrete Day takes place already next week, on 14 March at the Estonian Film Museum where the winner of the Concrete Structure of the Year 2017 will be announced. The main act at the Concrete Day is the internationally experienced architect Juan Bautista Frigerio.

Juan Bautista Frigerio studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires (1992). In 1995, he joined New York Architectural Practice at Gabellini Associates, where he designed large retail stores. He also collaborated with Kohn Pederson Fox Architectural Bureau.

In 1998, Frigerio acquired Master's Degree in Architecture and Urban Design at Harvard University, MAUD. After completing his studies, he remained in the Boston area as a project architect at the Machado and Silvetti Associates architectural firm.

In 2001, Frigerio moved to London, joining the architectural firm Foster + Partners, where he waged extensive work on the design and documentation of the Wembley Stadium. As being Architect of the construction site his task was supervising the construction until the stadium was completed in 2006.

Frigerio participated in several successful projects: the award-winning West Kowloon Cultural Quarter (2002), the Bexley Business Academy, which was nominated for the Stirling Prize in 2004 and the Queen Alia International Airport, which won the 2006 Cityscape Architectural Review Awards in the Transportation category.

Since 2008 Juan Frigerio Foster + Partners is a partner in Latin America. He has been a pioneer in creating a number of new business opportunities in the region, enabling the company to work in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Frigerio was responsible for the design and construction of El Aleph's residence, which won the RIBA International Building Prize (2012) and the responsible partner at the Banco Ciudad de Buenos Aires Corporate Headquarters, which was completed in 2015, when Buenos Aires Town Hall was completed. The Town Hall has become the architectural icon of Buenos Aires, which has won numerous awards, including the American Planning Association Sustainable Building Project (2015) and the RIBA Award of International Excellence (2016).

Frigerio is a member of the Argentine Consejo Profesional de Arquitectura (CPAU) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
